Australian Shepherds
Naturally Reared Stock Dogs Where quality goes in before color goes on!
At the Rockin Red Ranch, not only are we trying to preserve the working Australian Shepherd, but our Australian
Shepherds are naturally reared. By that we mean they are fed the diet that God intended for them to ear; a raw diet of meat and bones (Barf Diet)! We do not feed our dogs grains of commercial dog food but a diet of organic
vegetables and meats.

We breed for working
instinct, temperament, structure, soundness and athletic ability. Our dogs
are used daily. They each get one on one attention. We feel this makes a
more rounded happy healthy Aussie!

My first memory of an Australian Shepherd was when I was 16 years old spending the week at a horse trainers. He was a blue merle and his name was Buster. He was the prettiest dog I had ever seen, and smart to boot! I remember thinking that one day I will own one of these dogs. It took 16 years, but I finally got my Aussie!
My first Australian Shepherd "Auggie" went to work with me daily. At the time, I drove a catering truck, and she served as my mascot! One Aussie wasn't enough, so we bought Sammy, Auggie's full sister out of the next litter. Auggie retired from the catering business and became a plumbers assistant to my husband who owned his own plumbing company. Sammy became my new mascot. She loved people, especially children. She had one blue eye and would do this growl-howl thing when kids approached her. She was trained to collect money from customers, pick up dropped bottles on the ground and chase seagulls away from the truck. On the weekends, Sammy and Auggie would go riding with us in the Uinta mountains. They truly lived for the day long rides! Auggie was a hoot! She would circle our horses while we rode, it
didn't matter if we were going up narrow passes or down a steep mountain, you could always count on Auggie to "keep our horses rounded up"!
The next Australian Shepherd we bought was Gus. From the moment I laid eyes on him to this very day, he has been my best friend! I have never had a dog so devoted to me. We are totally in sink with each other and can read each others mind. Gus has driven with me all over the nation, standing guard when I pull over to sleep, keeping me company on those long stretches of road, and even sings with me, ( he really likes "She'll be coming around the mountain") Gus is my right hand man here on the ranch. He always seems to know what I want, weather it be to move the stock, get the mouse, chase the chickens out of the garden, or just to give me a hug and a kiss when I need it!
We have had other Australian Shepherds come and go. We have decided that the Australian Shepherds breed is the only dog breed for us. The versatility of Australian Shepherds is hard to match!
